Friends, Feelings & Focus

An 8-week ADHD Therapy Group for Kids

Is your 4th, 5th, or 6th-grader struggling with focus issues?

Is he having difficulty completing assignments?

Is she having a hard time maintaining friendships?

Is he just too smart to be performing poorly in school?

Our children all grow and mature at different rates and with different problems along the way.  Focus problems, and even diagnoses of ADHD or ADD, are common.  While there is no magical solution, children who are aware of their focus issues can discover and learn extremely useful tools for coping with their problems.  With their parents’ help, the wonderful and even gifted child hidden under the problems can emerge.

This seminar is an eight week series of therapy groups where children meet for 8 session and parents meet for 3 sessions.  The groups meet separately, though at the same location.

The children’s group is between 4 to 8 kids from 4th to 6th grade who are all struggling with attention and focus issues at school and at home.  During the group time the kids will:

  • Learn about their exceptional brain and how it works
  • Learn to recognize their individual focus and attention issues
  • Collectively learn and discover strategies for managing those issues.
  • Work together to strengthen social skills and relationships with peers and their family
  • Improve self-esteem, learning that mistakes are OK, and improved academic performance

Either or both parents can join the 3 sessions for parents.  These sessions will help parents:

  • Learn about their children’s struggles with focus and attention issues and how they can help
  • Lean what causes focus and attention issues through the latest research on these issues in the brain
  • Learn strategies for managing attention and focusing issues, and how to build more positive connections with their children

Pre-registration is required.

Because of the therapeutic nature of these groups, the cost of this seminar may be billable to insurance.
